Drip Tape
To choose the right drip tape, you need to know its structure and principle of operation. Drip tapes from various manufacturers differ in a number of characteristics, according to which the tapes are divided into several types.
Drip tape is available in 2 common diameters — 16 and 22 mm. They are designed for irrigation up to 250 m and over 250 m (respectively).
The wall thickness of the tape varies from 0.125 mm to 0.375 and more. More than others, 0.2 mm is common. It is quite durable, with careful handling it can work from 3 to 5 years.
The dropper (or emitter) can consume from 0.6 to 3.8 liters per hour. An economical flow of 0.6-0.8 l / h is used for extended beds, clay soils. The most applicable average flow is 1-1.5 l/h. An increased flow rate of 2.0-3.8 l/h is used for dense planting of crops with a highly developed root system and on sandy soils.
The distance between the emitters in the tape (pitch) can be 10, 20, 30, 40 or 50 cm.
- The distance between the droppers is 10 cm — mounted for irrigation of carrots, parsley, herbs.
- The distance between the droppers is 20 cm — fits for growing cucumbers.
- Drip spacing 30 cm — suitable for growing peppers, eggplants, tomatoes, as well as potatoes and strawberries.
- The distance between the droppers is 40 and 50 cm — used when watering pumpkins and watermelons.
- It is permissible to organize drip irrigation of potatoes with a dropper step of 40 or 50 cm, then the water flow in the droppers should be increased to 2-3 l / hour.
